Planet Asia

Planet Asia

In the realm of hip-hop, Planet Asia is a true virtuoso. His roots are firmly planted in Fresno, California, but his influence has spread far beyond his hometown. He has been a key player in the industry since 1996, and his contributions to the genre are as diverse as they are significant.

In 2001, The Source magazine awarded him the first round draft pick and Independent Album of the Year for How the West Was One, a collaboration with fellow rapper Rasco under the group name Cali Agents. This recognition led to a deal with Interscope Records, and in 2002, he received a Grammy Award nomination for the song “W” by Mystic. Planet Asia’s debut album, The Grand Opening, was released in 2004, earning him another Independent Album of the Year award from The Source.

Planet Asia’s influence extends beyond his music. He was a judge on the Ultimate MC TV show in 2011, alongside notable artists such as Royce da 5’9″, Sean Price, Organik, and Pharoahe Monch.
